Italian Espresso Coffee Machines Reviewed
Thinking of buying an espresso machine but are bewildered with all the choice of espresso machines available? There certainly is a lot of choice. First you may want to understand how an espresso machine really works so you will know the right questions to ask the salesperson about their different espresso machines.
Using best quality coffee in a tightly packaged container, most machines force very hot water under pressure through the coffee. Good quality coffee grounds make an extremely tasty shot of espresso using oils in the beans.
If the machine is already prepped – water heated and pump primed – it should be able to produce a shot within a few seconds. The grinding of the coffee in the first instance makes a difference to how long this takes. But – by and large, finer blend will of course flow much quicker through the espresso machine than a coarser blend of coffee. See this article for more details: Espresso coffee resource.
Making milk based drinks also requires a machine that has a steam wand to froth the milk and many of the best machines will do this without a problem. The milk is steamed by the machine in order for it to become frothy for the top of the coffee when it is served. There are many different makers on the market. There are what is called the pump driven espresso machine, steam espresso machines, stove top espresso machines, piston driven espresso machine and last but not least the automatic and super automatic espresso makers.
Creating decent espresso at home is not rocket science, although good quality coffee is one of the keys. If you are looking for the perfect shot that is smooth and sweet instead of bitter and acidic, picking the right blend is crucial.
Another quality that a good cup of espresso must have is that it should be lightly roasted so its sugars and aroma is not lost in the brewing process.
Bitter after tastes can be left if the beans have been roasted too much and a charcoal flavor remains. If the water in your area leaves an after taste, it is probably advisable to use filtered or spring water instead of normal tap water. It is important that the espresso machine you choose has the capability to maintain water temperatures between 92 and 96 degrees centigrade so it will make consistent tasting espresso each time.
